General Butler State Resort Park
( 1 Mile South to Butler Outlet Mall on Hwy227) is one of Kentucky's most popular state parks, is located near the confluence of the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers in Carrollton. The 791-acre (3.20 km2) park is open year-round, featuring attractions such as a nine-hole golf course , hiking, boating, fishing and mountain bike recreation activities. The park is named for General William O. Butler, a soldier in both the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War. A historic Butler-Turpin House which is available for tours. Kentucky Speedway
(15 Mile Northeast to Butler Outlet Mall off I-71 Exit ) A big day for NASCAR fans in the Bluegrass State, as the Kentucky Speedway has landed a Sprint Cup race for 2011. Governor Steve Beshear and Bruton Smith, CEO of Speedway Motorsports made the announcement. The new owner who owns all major speedway in USA, plans to immediately invest $90-$100 million in Kentucky Speedway upgrades, by adding seating capacity over 120,000, and will bring more than 100,000 fans who could stay for days at a time. An airport with 6500 foot runway is being planned. Track officials estimate race could pump over $150 million into the regional economy. Markland Dam
(Fourteen Miles Southwest to Butler Outlet Mall on Hwy 156-IN from US RT 42-KY)a concrete dam bridge and locks that span the Ohio River. It is 1395 feet (425.2 m) long, and connects Gallatin County, Kentucky, and Switzerland County, Indiana . Cinergy is operating a hydroelectric power plant with a capacity of 81,000 KVA. The dam's locks are capable of raising or lowering a vessel 35 feet. The pool created by the Markland Dam extends 95 miles upstream to Meldahl Dam upstream of Cincinnati, near Foster in Bracken County. There are three navigable streams that enter the pool, the Big Miami, the Little Miami, and the Licking rivers. It has greatly improved riverboat traffic and have provided additional recreational opportunities.
